Pasco ARES - Amateur Radio Emergency Service - Pasco County

The Pasco County ARES On-Air Net - Net Control Operator Resources

Thank you for volunteering to serve as a Network Control Station for the Pasco ARES Net. These files are "Job Aids" designed to assist you in your service.

YOU ARE NETWORK CONTROL. That means that you are in charge of the net on your assigned night. Use whatever procedure you are comfortable with, as long as you handle the net's business. If you know that time will be limited, your priorities are, from highest to lowest:

  1. Emergency or Priority traffic is always at the top of the list.
  2. Training is the primary focus of the net, per instructions from our Emergency Coordinator.
  3. Check-ins
  4. Announcements and Bulletins
  5. Message traffic (we might handle traffic among our members for experience, but we are not, strictly speaking, a TRAFFIC net.)
I, personally, have changed from using a scripted "preamble" to the "checklist" that is also provided in this packet. Feel free to use it or another procedure as you wish.
